The Fairytale Wedding of Lucy and Bertus

Posted on Tue June 7, 2022.

It was a lovely Spring day at Rondekuil Estates when Lucy and Bertus exchanged their wedding vows on the lawns overlooking the rolling hillside surrounding the farm. Their reception was held in our venue, where 60 guests, comprising family and friends joined them. Lucy and Bertus met 3 years ago at a ballroom dancing event held at the Cape Town University. They both enjoyed ballroom dancing as a hobby, and still do social dancing occasionally. The proposal was a complete surprise to Lucy, he presented her with a tanzanite and white gold engagement ring, and popped the question while they were casually watching television one evening.

Lucy chose the theme of “stars” for her wedding, and her theme colour was blue. Even the wedding cake was a “blue velvet” cake, and not the original “red velvet” cake, which has become so popular.

A hobby which Lucy enjoys is graphic designing, and she designed all the stationery herself for her wedding, plus she project managed the decor for the reception.

Bertus plays Chess as a hobby, and the wedding cake was topped with beautiful chess pieces of the Queen and King, which made quite a statement.

Her dress was spectacular to say the least. Purchased from “Bride & Co”, she had a few alterations made, and when she walked down the aisle, she looked like a real fairy princess.

They will be spending their honeymoon at the Outiniqua Stud Farm, before returning to their careers of office manager and software developer. Naturally, they are both excited about their future together, which, they say, will include a few children and a few Great Danes.
